Originally from Chicago, Brad now makes Los Angeles his home. He has built an extensive career in both Opera and Musical Theatre - a true "crossover" talent.
Brad was cast by Hal Prince in the original cast of the National Tour of The Phantom of The Opera (Webber) - credited with over 3,000 performances.
In 1988 David Stivender, Conductor and Chorus Master of the Metropolitan Opera, described Brad's voice as "the authentic Verdi instrument." Recently in a La Traviata performance, The Ventura Star wrote: "blessed with a warm, flowing, baritone...(Keating) raises the vocal level of every scene he enters delivering with passion and dignity."
Brad has appeared with: The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Lyric of Kansas City, Chicago Opera Theatre, Santa Barbara Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Whitewater Opera, Kennedy Center, Pasadena Playhouse, New Jersey Symphony, Milwaukee Melody Top and performed for both the President and Mrs. Bush and the President and Mrs. Clinton.
In 2001, Brad was brought to the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California (home of the Hour of Power world wide telecast) by Grammy award winning conductor, Johnnie Carl (Celine Dion and John Tesh). For years Brad has thrilled audiences with his renditions of Johnnie Carl's Magnificat and O Holy Night.
" What a vital performance Brad Keating gives...His commanding baritone voice catches all the sardonic nuances of his situation."
Chicago Tribune (world premiere of Ghouls)
"Keating's rich sound and presence gave both weight and beauty to the Opera's key moment's, earning him enthusiastic applause after his solos. He continued his glorious work in duets with Manzi where they completely matched each other in phrasing, timing and dynamics."
Santa Barbara News-Press
"The role of Engel is a touching one, and Keating brought a robust voice to it."
Chicago Sun-Times
Brad Keating was the standout as Giorgio Germont....Blessed with a warm, flowing baritone, Keating raises the level of every scene he enters...Keating delivers with passion and dignity, Above all, he does justice to Verdi's captivating music."
Ventura County Star
His Voice has the warmth that made this Prologue poignant."
The (Oregon) Register-Guard
" Brilliant character turn by Brad Keating, Inspired as the empty-headed movie star Randy Curtis."
Chicago Tribune
"Count Danilo was ably sung and acted by Brad Keating, who made for a dashing and persuasive leading man."
Richmond Palladium
"The marvelous repartee between Brad Keating and Sue Wiley was the best thing about 'Rose-Marie'."
Chicago Sun-Times
"Brad Keating's Germont is tremendous....strong and intimidating.... He instills fear, but also shows tenderness and understanding to both Violetta and his son....This is easily the best "La Traviata" I've ever seen."
